The summer school "Rossiada-2018" combines intensive Russian language course and cultural and excursion programs in the most outstanding cities-hosts of sporting events in different parts of Russia — Ekaterinburg, Kazan and Sochi. In these cities the very first major sporting events in post-Soviet Russia have taken/about to take place: the Summer Universiade in Kazan in 2013, the XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014, and the first World Cup-2018 in 11 different Russian cities one of which is Ekaterinburg.
After our 3-week summer course you’ll celebrate your linguistic achievements in conquering Russian as a foreign language, get unique tourist experience and deep understanding of social, cultural, financial contexts of modern Russia and significant and diverse consequences of hosting global sports events and preparing for them.
In Ekaterinburg: you will cross the border between Europe and Asia, visit the place where the last Russian Emperor Nicolas II and his family were murdered, trek in the Ural Mountains in the Natural Park Olenyi Ruchi (Deer Streams), watch a football match on the Central Stadium that will have hosted the World Cup-2018 and experience real Russian banya.
In Kazan: you will be stroke by Kazan’s Kremlin, enormous Kul Sharif Mosque and the Hermitage Kazan gallery; you will try traditional Tatar food and drink in the interactive Chak-Chak museum, you’ll be surprised by Kazan’s most unusual Soviet Life Museum and contemporary art gallery and performance space Smena Culture Center, you will get chance to cheer on "Kazan Arena" - the universal football stadium of the highest fourth category of UEFA.
In Sochi: you’ll have a Day Trip to Russian Switzerland – Krasnaya Polyana village, the capital of the mountain cluster XXII Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2014 and a breathtaking village with unique natural conditions, you’ll visit the cultural and ethnographic center “My Russia”, you’ll be a guests in a secret green camouflage painted and the most beloved summer residence of Joseph Stalin and you’ll head to the highest Sochi’s mountain – the Greater Akhun Mountain and walk through the gorge towards the Agura Waterfalls.
School manager Kseniia (email@example.com) and the school director Maria (firstname.lastname@example.org) will help you with visa support and having a short Skype-interview to determine the language group that corresponds to the level of proficiency in Russian as well as with all questions you might ask!
