Frequently asked questions
How will I get my visa?
As soon as you have applied for the Language School and have been accepted for participation, the manager will issue a Visa invitation (it can take about 3-5 days or less for EU-citizens and about 1.5 month for non-EU citizens) and send it by e-mail. With this invitation, you can go to the Russian Consulate and apply for the visa.
What are the other documents I need to remember about for my visa application?
How will I get to know Ekaterinburg and its outskirts?
We have a great team of volunteers that usually become real friends for international students. They are always willing to help and share their experience. We call them “Buddy” because they are sincere and friendly. They speak English, Spanish, German and other languages, and will help you enter the Russian-speaking environment, free yourself from boundaries and prejudices, and not be afraid to speak Russian outside the classroom.
Where can I exchange my money?
Currencies can be exchanged in any Russian bank or at the airport. However, please keep in mind that usually bank employees evaluate the quality of the banknotes very strictly and may easily not accept a banknote even with a little notch. So, if you want to exchange cash, please take new banknotes with small face value (imagine being turned down with a 500-euro banknote!).
Also, you can withdraw money from any ATM with a service fee. Visa, Visa-Electron, Master Card are fully acceptable. Credit cards are accepted almost everywhere, including cafés and supermarkets (with the exception of small specialized shops and flea markets).
How can I contact my parents, friends back home?
You can by a Russian sim-card – your buddy will gladly help you with that and also there is Wi-Fi connection in your hostel and at the University campus.
How will I orientate in the city?
Our team of Russian volunteers will help you with solving everyday issues (changing moneys, registration, buying Russian SIM card, getting to know the new city) and will accompany you to the University and back. So, your buddies will be with you almost all the time! But even without them you will not get lost: just download 2GIS app on your phone.
2GIS is 3D detailed map of Ekaterinburg, which
